Burning our big fire

My dad has been cleaning our oyster farm and bringing home all the old rotten rails and baskets we don't need anymore, and he's been putting them in a big pile to burn one day.  
My mum had a big clean out at home over the 'lockdown', and she had lot's to burn too, so me, Nikau and Teina put it all down on the fire pile too.  And today, my dad and Nikau lit the fire!  It was massive. Some people drove past and took photos it was so big. It burnt really quickly. While I was watching it burn I felt warm.

 

Possum Update

Our possum is growing well. He gets fed all the time, and we even leave kai in a container in his cage when we go to bed. He comes out and plays, he's getting used to us now, but he eats mums plants. Uh oh...

 

 

 

 

Ode of Remembrance - An Anzac Tribute

One of our Topic tasks was to video ourselves reciting the Ode of Remembrance for Anzac Day.

We hear it cited at the beginning of the service when we honour the fallen Anzac soldiers at the Anzac Dawn Parade.

It is also on plaques at Anzac monuments, and can be read by people when they go and see it.

Riding in the Forest

Today me and my family went out for a ride in the Waipap forest out my Ninety Mile. We rode there on our bikes. It was cool fun. We went up the beach and then came back through the forest. We stopped and saw Harry on the way home. Then we went into Pak n Save, and me and Nikau got McDonald's for dinner. It was so good because I haven't had it since March.

 

 

 

Pick Up Stick Challenge

When we went and visited my Nanny and Papa, me, Nikau and Teina had a quick game of Pick Up Sticks. I like playing this because you have to think carefully about what stick to choose to get, and when you move another stick you have to leave it there and then maybe someone else can have a chance at getting it.  We didn't end up finishing  because we took Gypsy my dog for a quick walk.

Baby Possum

Last night me, Nikau, Levi, and Leah went possum shooting.  We went across the road to a farm.
Nikau shot a possum in the tree and when it fell to the ground I saw a baby possum in it's pouch on it tummy. It was so cute. I took it home to show mum and dad. We gave it some kai. It sleeps all day in a cat cage, and wakes up at night for kai and a play with me. I don't know if we will keep it, but it is little so we are feeding it.

 

 

Riding down on the ranch

Today me and my brother went bike riding down in the paddock. My bike is a 4 stroke 125DRZ. When I was down there I was doing wheelies, and Nikau, mum and dad were watching me. It's easy to ride now, but at first I was nervous to ride it. Nikau pushed me to give me a start, and I was into it.
